You don’t have to resubmit your site to the search engines when you are updating your site. Their robots — barring any barriers that prevent them from accessing your site (e.g. your robots.txt file prevents them from reading your site) — will come to your site.
I suggest you open a Google Webmasters account, which can tell you when the Googlebot last crawled your site. It’s free
